The Framework

Three Pillars of a Grounded Home

Children flourish when responsibility rises to meet opportunity. These three areas form the foundation of every family plan we build.

Work & Responsibility

A household system for chores, expectations, accountability, paid jobs, and the practical rhythms needed to help your kids become capable and responsible.

Financial Literacy

A plan for saving, spending, giving, and investing — age-appropriate stewardship habits that prepare your kids for real financial decisions.

Technology Management

Clear plans for screens, devices, gaming, phones, social media, and parental controls — so privilege never outpaces character.

About Doug

Welcome to Grateful Grounded Kids.

No parent wakes up praying our kids grow up to be entitled. And yet, here we are, raising kids in the Age of Entitlement.

As a father of four, I've become convinced that entitlement is not random. It is the natural result of an overabundance of privilege paired with a deficit of responsibility. When that imbalance settles into a family culture, it slowly strains gratitude, resilience, and unity.

Grateful Grounded Kids exists to help families restore the right order — to elevate responsibility, cultivate financial wisdom, and ensure that privilege (especially technology) never outpaces character.

New Book

Grateful & Grounded

Research and experience consistently show that children flourish when responsibility rises to meet opportunity. When they contribute meaningfully at home, learn to steward money wisely, and live within clear and healthy technology boundaries, they grow into adults who are grounded, capable, and thankful.

This book is your guide to building a household economy that actually works — one where chores, money, and privilege make sense to your kids, not just to you.
